Brushy Lagoon Dam 4WD Track Tasmania Westbury to Brushy Lagoon


The 4WD track from Westbury to Brushy Lagoon Dam is a reasonably easy four wheel drive track, as long as it hasn't been raining heavily for extended periods. This is a popular location for trout fishing in Tasmania and features beautiful scenery including views of the Great Western Tiers.

  • If travelling alone, recovery equipment. Recommended to travel with another vehicle.

  • There are many places to camp on the shore of Brushy Lagoon.

Nearest Major Town

  • Westbury


  • You can follow this track and continue through to Deloraine and the Bass Highway, which will take your through to Devonport if tavelling North-West from Westbury.

Recommended 4WD itinerary:

  1. Leave Westbury and head along Biralee Road (B72)

  2. After 14.5 kilometres, turn left into Priestly's Road (C714)

  3. Keep going a further 6 kilometers until you see an old cottage, then turn left opposite this cottage. Continue to keep left

  4. After a further 6.4 kilometres turn left where you will find a picnic / camping area.

  5. Brushy Lagoon Dam is a further 2.5 kilometres

Shores are accessible for wading and fly fishing, while spinning from a boat is also popular. Brushy Lagoon is a family fishery with regular stocking of brown, brook and rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon maintaining the quality of angling.

Brushy Lagoon is a small, shallow and sheltered lagoon within a state forest.
